I marshaled at this race. Admitedly there were some problems but i dont think all the riders have thought about what we had to cope with. Being incharge of getting everyone on the uplifts all of saturday did start a poorly with the queue lasting a long time. By around 12 - 1pm, we had managed to split the uplift convoys up so 60 riders were going up at a time. We managed to get over 240 riders up in 55minutes which was pretty good considering the farmer was pissing around and there were issues with the uplifts. The sunday was the true test for the marshals. Having rained during the night, the track constantly changed and although alot of people were complaining about the tape, they should try keeping it in place. I had over 6 layers on and spent the day freezing my ass off. trying to climb up and down my section of track, which was steep and very very slippy was a nightmare. as soon as i had fixed the tape and got back to my point, a rider would crash and snap all the tape again. I spent most of the day fixing tape with hands i couldnt feel. Matters were made worst with the fact i was hit a few times by riders and their bikes as they came crashing through the tape. Yes, i know there were many problems for the riders, but i think everyone needs to think about all the problems the marshals and organisers had in trying to make this an enjoyable event for everyone!
